We decided to celebrate our 1st (wedding) anniversary in Maldives. Our anniversary is actually on Christmas day, but as I’ve read online that the best period to visit Maldives is in Jan - Feb period because of the good weather, we’ve decided to head over to Maldives on 13th Jan 2012. *add life event (travel) to Facebook timeline*

We picked Maldives, Clubmed Kani because everything is inclusive and we didn’t have to plan anything on our own. There are activities like water polo, water aerobics and table tennis for you to take part in, and water sports like snorkeling, kayaking and sailing are included too. All 3 meals are included, as well as drinks and snacks.
We reached Malé airport on 13th Jan evening and upon clearing the custom, we headed out and was brought to the boat which was bringing us to the resort island. I remembered I was so excited and kept looking down at the water and indeed they are as clear as what everyone said!
The excitement soon turned into fun+fear as the waves were really strong and a couple of times our butt actually left the seat as the boat sped through the Indian Ocean (sidetrack: We actually Facebook checkin to Indian Ocean. LOL). Now I knew why we were all given life jacket before getting on the boat. I told The Husband that it felt like the Mummy ride in Universal Studio. It was fun and scary at the same time.
It felt like ages before we finally reached Clubmed Kani, Maldives. After listening to the welcome speech (and warnings), we were brought to our villa and I completely forgot to take proper photo of the villa but there’s a huge bathroom area with two sinks, one indoor and one outdoor shower and a toilet bowl (haha!). Then there’s the dressing area with huge mirror and wardrobes. And the bedroom area where the bed is facing the sea! :D I really miss waking up to … ok, I actually drew the curtains so I didn’t really wake up to a beautiful nature.

Things to do at Maldives, Clubmed Kani:
- Eat. I think I’ve eaten too much. I love their white chocolate bread.
- Stand in awe next to the amazing Banyan Tree.
- Go for a spa session. We skipped this as we were not interested.
- Play a game or two of chess. I lost to The Husband by the way. It was the first time I played chess. I forgot the rules and steps already.
- Just take a walk around the resort. We loved to walk around, and then visit the toilet near the pub… because the toilet smells really nice and there’s air-con!
- Relax at the pub area. At night, if you sit beside the sea/ocean, you can see sharks, manta ray and fishes playing in the water. It was really relaxing and I can sit there whole night sipping orange juice (so good girl) and watching the sharks.

Would you want to live here? The staffs working at Clubmed Kani must know this place inside-out.

Top activity in Maldives? Suntan! Check out the first two pic. That’s how fair we both were when we just reached Maldives. Checked out the last pic… I’m all dark and I loved it! Too bad my tan is already starting to fade away. And yes, this activity is the main cause of my skin rashes when I reached home. I really love the 3rd pic - blue sky, blue ocean, blue bikini and blue drink (blue ocean, a kind of cocktail). I love blue… (and pink!).

And another activity you must not missed? Snorkeling! As a safety precaution, all water activities need you to pass a swimming test before you can take part. I was almost killed during the swimming test. I was tired out from swimming in the ocean with the strong current and when I swam back, a China man was sitting on the steps and refusing to get into the water. I ended up swimming and swimming, to wait for him to get into the water… After a while, I got so tired I just had to swim towards the steps and he decided to jump into the water right then and PUSHED ME UNDER THE WATER & AWAY FROM SHORE. He’s fat so the force was strong. I was really pissed and the worst thing? He didn’t even realized it and totally never apologized at all. Grr!
But anyway, snorkeling was really fun. Everything was just so beautiful, the fishes, the corals, everything! We were really enjoying ourselves until we swam to an area where it’s empty. When you looked down, there’s nothing but a deep empty blue hole. You can’t even see the end of the hole… and because of that, I freaked out and had a panic-attack. I told The Husband that I can’t breathe and am going to die and begged him to get me back onto the boat. He held onto me and told me to relax and dragged me away from the emptiness… and I slowly recovered from my panic attack and started snorkeling again.
It was quite embarrassing now that I think of it. “Darling, I cannot. I can’t. I must go. To the boat. Now. I can’t breathe. I can’t swim. Help. Argh. Let me go to the boat!”
Oh and the close-up photo of The Husband? I volunteered to take photo of him, got hold of the camera, felt myself floating away due to the waves, panicked, snapped a pic, “ok done. Help, pull me back!”. *sheepish* Sorry darling.
‘
Activity 3: Eat cup noodle. Hahaha! We skipped lunch because we were afraid we’d get sick if we snorkel with a full stomach, and therefore we got really hungry after snorkeling and so we made cup noodle and enjoyed it while relaxing on the beach. One word: shiok!

There was a submarine trip and we were tempted to join but because it was USD$190+ per person, we were not that willing to sign up in advance for it so we decided that we should head down on the day itself and if they still have spaces, then we’ll pay up and go… Yup, you guessed it, the submarine was full. =( But as The Husband said, “now that’s an excuse for us to come back to Maldives again!” These photo were taken while we walked back to the beach after being “rejected” by the tour guide.

But we were so lucky that we didn’t get to go for the submarine because we spotted a pool of baby sharks on our way back from the dock. They were so tiny and transparent and they disappeared completely after a while but not before I snapped a pic and a video! *victory* The Husband’s sharp eyes caught sight of them, I was still happily taking photo of other fishes when he called me over to see the baby sharks.

Other activities include: watching beautiful sunset. (Slept too late to watch sunrise). Camwhore. *cough* Watching TV from our bed. We watched Burlesque and Dog Whisperer. Sipping cocktails at the beach and of course, our favorite - swimming!

Other sports activities would be: sailing and kayaking. I think The Husband and I are the most mismatched couple ever because when I rowed left, he rowed right. I rowed up, he rowed down. In the end, I did the right thing. I stopped and let him do ALL the job. *whistle*
As for sailing, he’s really the expert now. So the black bar is the control the direction/speed and we are to sit in the direction where the wind is blowing on our back. So when we changed direction, we had to change where we sit too. It’s quite fun, I would love to go sailing again (with the life jacket on). Two persons fell over. We didn’t. We are experts. Thankyouverymuch. :P

I missed my dog so much, I just had to add her to the trip… And so, that’s our Maldives trip. Would I want to go back again? Not in the near future. Maybe after I’ve kids and they are all grown up… and I’m rich and have the time of my life… then maybe we can go there and celebrate our 30th anniversary.
I’d need a bikini with strong underwire support then. =x
